Thanks to everyone who made the “Fuel Up” Homewood community dinner a great success! (TOD) Study

About 100 residents and volunteers from around the community gathered on the first floor of 7800 Susquehanna to socialize, meet new people, and celebrate Homewood. Conversation starters written on the tables prompted thoughtful conversations as guests reflected on their neighborhoods and laughed at some of the more lighthearted questions. A photo booth featured fun accessories and creative art pieces by Cheryl Capezzuti, who also created the colorful and imaginative giant puppets that decorated the space. Music by Kevin McMahon and Will Manker, two members of the In Transit band, created a welcoming ambiance for the evening.

Homewood Station Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Study

Please join us to learn about the goals of the Homewood TOD study, how it could improve the Homewood Busway Station and nearby area, and how TRID funding can help. Join a discussion about the existing busway station, and how it can be used to initiate neighborhood improvements and development projects. During the meeting we will break out into small groups so that you can provide input about improvements that should be made around the Station.

Operation Better Block

After the civil disturbances of the 1960′s, residents of Homewood-Brushton created Forever Action Together, Inc. (FAT) to stimulate the political, educational, social, and economic life of the community. In 1969, the Housing Committee of FAT was inspired by an article in the Pittsburgh, Post Gazette that detailed a summer youth program in New York that encouraged self-help to overcome neighborhood blight and deterioration.

Cluster Planning

Change is coming to Homewood. The goal of Homewood Cluster Planning is to guide that change in the interest of Homewood’s residents. The Cluster Planning process will create a detailed land use vision for Homewood’s future based on the needs and desires of existing, present-day community stakeholders.
